Newcastle Food & Flower Market was officially launched in March 2019, and has been providing a dedicated, weekly space for the Hunter’s independent growers ever since!

Market founder Jess Eckford-Aguilera originally opened the space as a flower market in 2017 to capture Newcastle and the Hunter’s neglected floral enthusiasts.

The project breathed new life into the Sandgate area, and quickly became a valuable hub for local florists dealing with long commutes and transport costs to trade in cities like Sydney.

This early success offered an opportunity for the team to bring more support and employment opportunities to Newcastle’s budding food growers.

After two years of hard work and planning, Newcastle Food & Flower Market was relaunched with a new name, a small café kiosk, and a host of unique and dedicated food vendors.

Our market expanded once more in June 2019, adding our built-in pantry section, a fully-featured café space, and more vendors to the team.

We’ve received glowing coverage from outlets including Newcastle Weekly and HunterHunter, as well as an outpouring of support from our community of happy customers.

We’ve even been featured on an episode of Channel 7’s Sydney Weekender program in July 2019!

Going forward, we hope to bring new and exciting vendors your way, while spreading love for all things local and organic.
